Here in Nelson BC, we are blessed with an abundance of opportunities. We have world renowned recreational activities that come in many shapes and sizes. We are also geographically positioned to experience a true 4 seasons, creating an annual rotation of outdoor activities. Kootenay Divergent Recreation offers access to a growing list of recreational hot spots in Nelson and surrounding area.

Nature Walks & Hikes: 

Pulpit, Lyons Bluff, Svoboda/Mountain Station/ Rail Trails, Silver King/ Barley High, Cottonwood Lake, Kokanee Park/ Old Growth Trail, Smallwood/ Bigwood look out. * Larger adventures that require further travel from town are available *

Mountain Biking & Cycling: 

Morning Mountain Recreation Park, Silver King/ Barley- Fairly High, Svoboda, Mountain Station, Blewett/ 49’r, Kokanee. Rail Trails to Cottonwood or Troup Beach, Slocan Valley Rail Trail. * Biking trails will depend on skill levels *

Winter Activities: 

Downhill Skiing/ Snowboarding, Cross Country Skiing at Apex/ Rail Trail, Salmo Ski Hill, sledding at Morning Mountain/ Golf Course, Snow Shoeing.

Water Activities: 

Swim Spots! Lake Side, Taghum Beach, One Mile Beach, Six Mile Beach, Kokanee Creek Provincial Park, Cottonwood Lake, Crescent Valley Beach, and the NDCC!

Skate Park & Bike Park:
Rosemonts biggest destination! This is a great place to play with bikes of all types, skateboards, scooters, rollerblades, or all of the above. The choice of concrete or dirt makes for a great multi-sport day! Disc Golf is also available on site.

Camping:

The Kootenay area offers an amazing variety of camping spots. If needed, KDR can provide all equipment and gear your loved one needs to enjoy a wilderness get-away.

Neuro-diverse individuals can have difficulty in social settings. Exposure to your community, being around others, and learning to be comfortable moving through the world is a valuable practice. Along with access to nature based recreation, KDR offers the exploration of our local community. Here in Nelson we have a number of great ways to spend time in town:

NDCC - Swimming pool / hot tub/ sauna, gym facilities

NDYC - Indoor games, music room, indoor skatepark, reading and craft space

The Cube - Indoor climbing gym, bouldering/ traditional climbing

The Library - calm space to read and explore new ideas

Lakeside Park - Playground, beach, Soccer, Basketball, Tennis, Football

Dog Park - Waterfront dog park to visit our K9 friends

Ainsworth - Easily accessible Sulphur hot springs, caves, cold plunge, warm pool

*Access to facilities in Kaslo, Castlegar, Salmo, Trail, and Rossland available. Travel costs are in place to accommodate these desires*

  • $50

    Examining areas of interest, diagnosis, support strategies, and expectations.

    +$25 per additional child.

    Properly looking at the individuality of everyone.

    An intake is the first step in our supportive journey together. They are recommended to be revised every 6-12 months

  • $40/ hour for one-on-one support

    $60/ hour for 2 children

  • $25/ hour travel

    $10-$40 fuel charge

    KDR is a Nelson based service. To accommodate those desiring services outside of Nelsons immediate surroundings (20km range), travel costs are in place

  • $340/ 1st day

    $300/ 2nd day

    $200/ 3rd + day

    Prices in place to offset a full day of 12-24 hours
